in the wilderness......not exactly the Florida swamps, but close....
My studio is a little cracker cottage, the size of which was dictated by the enormous old oaks surrounding it. The porch sits within six feet of a little pond teeming with panfish, bass, and catfish. The cottage is sixty eight steps from my house. I know this because it does not have plumbing.
I work accompanied by Beau, an ancient Golden Retriever, (see next page: For Beau) and Pacci, a blue merle Aussie with white eyes. One of the seven yard cats has designated herself the cottage kitty, and she helps by lying down on top of anything that I am working on. She isn't in the photo - she must be holding down a quilt.
